The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 5am for the following counties, Adams, Appanoose, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Fremont, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Page, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne.

Thunderstorms have developed across the western part of the state and are moving east. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging straightline winds. Along with the severe weather threats, there is a chance for heavy rain as well which may lead to flash flooding if storms train over the same area.
