The Storm Predicton Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 7am Saturday morning for the following counties, Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Howard, Mitchell, Winneshiek, Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Franklin, Hancock, Humboldt, Kossuth, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, Winnebago, Worth and Wright. A complex of thunderstorms currentlyover western Minnesota into NW Iowa will continue moving eastward the rest of the night. The main threat looks to be damaging straight line winds with some large hail also possible with any of the storms. Along with the severe weather threats, there is a chance for some heavy rain which may cause some flash flooding in areas that don’t need any more rain.
