The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 2am Tuesday morning for the following counties, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Van Buren, Washington, Appanoose, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne.

Thunderstorms have begun to fire along and north of a nearly stationary boundary that is near the Iowa Missouri border. Some of the storms have been severe already and more are likely. Damaging winds will be the main threat with these storms with large hail being secondary.
