The QPF chart from last night may look quite scary, with a bullseye of 7.9 inches of rain in the next 5 days in southern Iowa, with a large swath of the state receiving 3-6 inches. This looks to be a bit too much and will likely get lowered in the next run this morning (We hope). But a general 1-4 inches is possible with this storm system late Saturday through early on Tuesday. You can thank what was once Hurricane Alex for bringing this excessive amount of rain that is forecast to come into the state in the next 24 hours.
UPDATE: The 12z run had slightly lower precipitation totals but a bullseye of 7.6 inches did exist at the Iowa Missouri border, along with the large swath of 3-6 inches covering nearly the entire state.
