Convective Outlook for Friday

There is a slight risk of severe weather for Friday and Friday night for most of the state mainly south of US Hwy 20. This will be in two parts. New storms will fire in SE Iowa from the storms that are currently moving through NW and NC Iowa early this morning. Those storms will have the capability of large hail, damaging winds and possibly even a tornado (although there is a larger threat of a tornado further to the SE). Off to the west, similiar to Thursday, another Mesoscale convective system is expected to develop in Nebraska and roll into western and central Iowa overnight Friday night into early Saturday. The main threat with that will likely be strong gusty winds similiar to storms that occurred in NW Iowa late last night. Heavy rain is possible with any of these storms as well, and some small stream flooding may be possible especially in areas that received a lot of rain from storms over the last few days.
