Slight Risk Severe Weather to Begin June

Probability Outlook for Tuesday

There is a slight risk of severe weather for the entire state for Tuesday and Tuesday night. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. Below is the SPC statement,
LOW 60S DEWPOINTS WILL ADVECT NEWD THROUGH PORTIONS OF CNTRL PLAINS…UPPER MS VALLEY…AND GREAT LAKES PRE-FRONTAL WARM SECTOR. BELT OF STRONGER WLYS WILL TRANSPORT PLUME OF STEEP LAPSE RATES ABOVE RETURNING MOIST AXIS…LIKELY RESULTING IN RESERVOIR OF MODERATE SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY AS BOUNDARY LAYER WARMS. A FEW STORMS MAY BE ONGOING WITHIN ZONE OF ISENTROPIC LIFT OVER A PORTION OF CNTRL PLAINS TUESDAY MORNING. STORMS MAY INTENSIFY ALONG CONVECTIVE OUTFLOWS AS THIS ACTIVITY DEVELOPS EWD INTO A DESTABILIZING BOUNDARY LAYER. SEVERAL OTHER POTENTIAL AREAS FOR THUNDERSTORM INITIATION WILL EXIST INCLUDING ALONG THE SEWD ADVANCING COLD FRONT OVER THE UPPER MS VALLEY AND GREAT LAKES. OTHER STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP DURING THE EVENING AS SLY LOW LEVEL JET STRENGTHENS AND AUGMENTS ISENTROPIC LIFT FROM NRN KS INTO NEB NORTH OF FRONT. MODERATE WLY FLOW ALOFT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO SUFFICIENT VERTICAL SHEAR FOR ORGANIZED STORMS INCLUDING SUPERCELLS AND BOW ECHOES. PATTERN WILL ALSO SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR SEVERAL MCSS TO DEVELOP. THE PRIMARY THREATS WILL BE ISOLATED DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL
