Due to the heavy rain that fell across the eastern and southeastern portions of the state last night into this morning, coupled with a round of rain earlier in the week, many of the rivers and streams have gone over their banks and have begun to flood.

Many of these rivers will crest anywhere from tonight into the weekend and then slowly begin to fall. Rainfall last night was quite heavy in SE Iowa, where as much as 5 inches of rain fell. Luckily there isn’t another chance of rain in the forecast until Sunday into Monday, which should give the rivers some time to crest and begin to get within their banks.
