A large Low pressure system tracking across the middle of the county brought much needed soaking rains and chilly weather to the area, and the Upper Midwest. This system was actually kind of impressive, it spread steady rains across all of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, and was a part of a series of systems that hit Oklahoma. Rain started late Monday, and was light to moderate at times, but there was no heavy rain so it came down in a nice soaking manner. Rain took a short break Tuesday morning, but quickly filled in by the afternoon.

Most of the area picked up at least half of rain, which is very good news for drought effected areas of the local 6 county area, it seems the trees have leafed out much more since we got this rain, as now early trees have reached full leaf size and late trees are now about 50 to 60% to full leaf size. Some spots even had as much as nearly one inch of rain, with 0.95″ reported in Webster. I picked up 0.60″ at my location. this brings my monthly total to 1.39″ Breezy conditions were also noted with this system, We had gusts of 29MPH near 30MPH from the ESE both Monday night and early Tuesday, before winds subsided late Tuesday. The rain also held down temperatures and made for a cold day across the area, highs were only in the low to mid 40s. I had a high of 43.F and a low of 39.F which is nearly 30 degrees below normal highs for May.

More rain is expected from yet another system forecast to move in late Wednesday at this point I may need to update the forecast before Thursday.
