The wind has picked up this afternoon, especially in western Iowa where gusts are approaching 35-40mph. There is a risk of fires in Monona County westward into eastern Nebraska due to the strong winds (known as Extreme Fire Danger). Temperatures have responded too, with readings in the mid to upper 50s in western Iowa and upper 40s to lower 50s in the east. With the dry air in the atmosphere, the temps will bottom out again in the 20s and lower 30s. Skies will cloud over Saturday with a slight chance of rain into Sunday. This will then lead into a nice warm up next week with highs in the 60s and 70s possible from Midweek into the next weekend.
