THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR ICE JAM FLOODING IN…
CENTRAL WEBSTER COUNTY IN CENTRAL IOWA…

* UNTIL 530 AM CST

* AT 1135 PM CST…EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED THAT FLASH FLOODING CONTINUED ALONG THE DES MOINES RIVER ON THE NORTH EDGE OF FORT DODGE…IN THE BREEN AND RIVERDALE ADDITIONS. WATER WAS SURROUNDING OR ENTERING HOMES IN THE BREEN ADDITION. PORTIONS OF ROADS NEAR THIS AREA OF THE RIVER WERE ALSO LIKELY UNDER WATER. THE WATER CONTINUED TO RISE SLOWLY. ROADS IN THE AREA ARE BARRICADED TO ALL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND HOME OWNERS.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…FORT DODGE.

THIS WARNING EXTENDS THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING ISSUED FRIDAY EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT ENTER THE WATER. TURN AROUND AND MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

There is also a Flash Flood Warning in Cerro Gordo County, specifically in Mason City due to an ice jam along the Winneabago River there until 4:30am.
