Winter Storm Watch for Second Storm

MORNING UPDATE: The NWS in Des Moines has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from Midnight Sunday morning until 6am Monday morning for the following counties, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne.

The NWS in Omaha has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from 6am Sunday morning until Noon Monday afternoon for the following counties, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Harrison, Pottawattamie and Shelby.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA/VALLEY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY WILL EXPIRE AT 4 PM CST THIS AFTERNOON.

A WINTER STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES ON SATURDAY AND MOVE FROM THE SOUTHERN PLAINS TO THE MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT. MOST AREAS ARE EXPECTED TO RECIEVE BETWEEN THREE AND FIVE INCHES OF NEW SNOW…BUT THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR MORE THAN SIX INCHES IN SOME LOCATIONS. THE COMBINATION OF SNOW AND GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS MAY CAUSE TRAVEL PROBLEMS.
