Looking ahead to the second storm that is expected late Sunday into the first part of Monday. This simulated radar from the 0Z NAM model at 6am Monday morning shows a light to moderate band of snow across the eastern parts of the state with lighter snows most everywhere else in the state. On the latest track from the NAM model, the heaviest snow for the Sunday-Monday event looks to be in the southeastern half of the state into Illinois, with the possibility of at least 4-6 inches of snow possible. Things could change however in the next 24-48 hours, but Winter Storm Watches could be issued for the second storm system sometime late tomorrow night or Saturday.
Remember too, the first snow storm coming in late tonight into Friday will only produce 1 to as much as 3 inches of snow in isolated locations with the heaviest snow staying mainly south of I-80.
