Ice Storm Continues

The main batch of freezing rain and sleet early this afternoon was located over the eastern portions of the state into NC Iowa. Amounts have been generally between a quarter up to just over a half inch of ice. The main roads throughout the state vary wildly, with some roads wet to others being completely covered in ice. If you have to travel this afternoon and tonight, be very cautious to the ever-changing road conditons.

Alliant Energy reports over 8500 customers in Iowa without power at early afternoon. Mid-American Energy reports over 18,000 customers without power mainly in western and central Iowa where the heaviest amounts of freezing rain occurred.

Ice Storm Warnings continue in western, NW, central into east-central and southeast Iowa. The warning has been cancelled in south central Iowa. Freezing Rain advisory continues in extreme eastern Iowa into NE Iowa and a Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for Waterloo and Mason City NW into Minnesota.
