Merry Christmas to everyone from the blog, now for the update this morning.
The Winter Storm Warning in Black Hawk, Bremer and Tama counties has been cancelled and replaced with a Winter Weather Advisory. This will be in effect until 6am Saturday Morning. The Winter Weather Advisory also includes Appanoose, Davis, Lucas, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Poweshiek, Wapello and Wayne counties. A Winter Storm Warning has also been cancelled in Chickasawy, Fayette, Howard, Winneshiek, Floyd and Mitchell counties and replaced with a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect until 6pm this evening.
Mainly what has happened is that the colder air has moved into the western part of the state, for example Sioux City is down into the single digits and Des Moines is in the low 20s. Meanwhile rain continues over the eastern part of the state. Temperatures have continued to warm overnight with Keokuk now having eclipsed 50 degrees earlier this morning. Colder air will eventually win the battle and the precipitation will be changing to all snow by late this morning but no later than this afternoon. Blizzard Warnings remain in effect along the Missouri River Valley in Western Iowa.
