Blizzard of 2009: Radar at 1:45am

Radar at 1:45am showed the heaviest band of snow located from near Guthrie Center to Waterloo and then to the Quad Cities. Some drier air has moved into the southeastern portions of the state where the snow has stopped or there are only a few light flurries. Some light snow over northern Missouri will move in later this morning with only another inch or so likely down there. Elsewhere, another 2 to as much as 4-5 more inches of snow is set to fall especially in areas NE of Des Moines. Winds have already increased across the western 2/3rds of the state. Sustained winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 have become common over the western part of the state.
