All of Iowa, Winter Weather

One Two Punch

Two storm systems will greatly effect the weather in Iowa this upcoming week. The first storm will move in late Sunday into Monday. Snow will overspread the state from west to east. Accumulations from the snow will generally range between 1-3 inches, with a few higher amounts possible. A short break Monday night will just be an intermission to the second and more powerful storm system that moves in Tuesday into Wednesday. This storm will bring a lot more snow, along with strong winds and colder temperatures. Accumulations with the second storm are expected to range anywhere from 3-6+ inches. A more detailed accumulation will be known later today or Monday. Strong winds will likely leading to blowing and drifting snow and dangerous travel conditions. Near blizzard conditions are possible with the second storm on Tuesday and Wednesday. After the storm moves away, much colder weather will move in. With the snow cover on the ground high temperatures will struggle to get to 20 degrees in much of the state through the following weekend. Lows will likely be in the single digits and lower teens.
