A few locations across the state have recieved more precipitation in 2009 then in 2008. 4 of the 5 locales are in the eastern part of the state and over across the river in Moline Illinois. The chart above shows the 2009 precipitation totals through yesterday in comparison to the same time last year. Of the cities that have recieved less precip this year in comparison to last year, the amounts aren’t that much less. For example, Dubuque is only 3/4 of an inch behind last year, Sioux City is only off three tenths, but some locations like Des Moines, Mason City, Ames and Omaha are off by 10-13 inches from last year, even though Ames and Des Moines are still above average in precipitation.
