All of Iowa, Winter Weather

Growing Season Ends Tonight

A Freeze Warning is in effect later tonight through Tomorrow morning for most of the state. The only exceptions are Lyon County in NW Iowa (which was under a freeze warning last night) and Muscatine, Scott, Louisa, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren and Lee counties in east central and southeast Iowa, which is under a Frost Advisory tonight and a Freeze watch for Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures tonight will drop into the mid to upper 20s in the freeze warning locations with lower 30s in SE Iowa. This will kill any plants that aren’t properly protected from the cold. This will officially end the growing season for the entire state of Iowa. Adding on to that, a few snow showers are possible Saturday and then again Sunday night into early Monday across the state.
