An early morning look at the showers and thunderstorms moving through the state early this morning. The first wave of showers and isolated thunderstorms was along a line extending from Keokuk to Iowa City to Cedar Rapids to Waterloo to Osage. It is moving to the east between 25-30mph. There has been some lightning in these storms, but the rainfall will generally be light (under 1/4 inch per hour). Another stronger batch of storms has moved into the state. This will have the capability of producing heavy rain and possibly some small hail. These storms were located along a line extending from Clarinda to Harlan to Sioux City. These were also moving to the ENE around 25-30mph. Rainfall totals will likely be upwards of 1 inch from both rounds of storms as they progress through the state through the early morning hours. More rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be likely later on today.
