Well Above normal temperatures Report

Sugar maple starting to show color Sept 15Th

for past 1 and a half weeks have had Well above normal temperatures, Complete sunshine and Very dry conditions across the area, This was caused by a strong high pressure system which has been stuck just east of area near Lake Superior which has brought us sunny weather nearly everyday of Sept so far, it has been very dry because of this high pressure it has literally backed out and moved any system west that was trying to come this way.

This is not unheard of, but it is pretty interesting, Normally high temperatures this time of year are in the very low 70s but all of the area has been breaking 80 nearly everyday which is about 12 degrees above normal… we have even had more then one mid 80s degree highs this week.

This September as been above average for sure, and actually was surprisingly one of the warmest weeks of the entire summer even though we are at the end of summer!, but what is most interesting is, This September has been significantly warmer then September 2008 was, So far this month we have had 9 days at or above 80.F last year in September we ended the month with just 3, Also in September 2008 we had by the 8Th-9Th of the month, we already had 1 frost, and this year so far, we have not had any frost , actually here at my house, we have not even had our first frost of the the fall season yet! some spots did have a light frost already once this season. The delayed first frost has been very good news for local area farmers.

It has been Very Dry across the area so far this month, most places have not gotten any rain, My rain gauge has not even seen a single drop of rain this entire month so far, and so far we have gone 16 days with out any rain at all not even a sprinkle! it has been sunny pretty much everyday of the month, this was probably the longest stretch of sunny weather we have had this entire summer

Above normal temperatures, Sunshine and Dry weather looks to continue at least through the weekend

  1. D, I haven’t hit 80 yet this month at my house, but officially Oshkosh has, plenty of times, like yourself. I’ve been darn close and if I’d round up, I’d have a couple 80’s in there.

The winds of change have blown in however and it’s cooled off nicely.
