Severe Thunderstorm Watch #686

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 11pm for the following counties Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Black Hawk, Boone, Cass, Clarke, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Hardin, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne. As mentioned in an earlier post, thunderstorms continue to fire along a boundary that has set up from near Dubuque to just south of Omaha. Some of these storms will have the tendency to become severe with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. The atmosphere has been relatively untapped in southern Iowa so thunderstorms will likely be severe in those areas. Heavy rain is also a liklihood given what has occurred along the US Hwy 20 corridor earlier this morning into the afternoon.
