Heavy Rain, Severe Storms then Heat

A Warm front is forecast to move into the state Thursday, along it, showers and thunderstorms will be possible beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting through Friday. Severe Weather is possible on Thursday afternoon and evening for areas in the state west of US Hwy 63. Large Hail and Damaging winds will be the main threats. Along with the severe weather, very heavy rain is possible. Latest models show a large swath of at least 1 inch of rain across the entire state with as much as 3 inches possible. Some localized flooding may also be possible with thunderstorms that move over the same location. As the front lifts out of the state late Friday, the weekend will bring true summer weather back to the state, that’s been missing it seems like all summer long. Temperatures will reach the 90s with heat indices near or topping 100. A cold front will move into the state Monday bringing an end to the heat.
