All of Iowa

The Weekend

After an active Friday (mainly in the morning and early afternoon), this weekend will be much quieter and much drier across the state. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s across much of the state with mid 80s likely in western Iowa. The humidity will be a lot lower today as well, with dewpoints likely in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The cold front that is currently moving through the southern part of the state early this morning will begin to retreat northward as a warm front on Sunday, leading to another round of showers and thunderstorms. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for Sunday for the southwestern half of the state. The main threats will likely be large hail and damaging winds from a possible MCS (Mesoscale Convective System) that is forecast to develop over Nebraska and South Dakota and move east-southeast across the southwestern part of the state. Later forecasts will better pinpoint this. Another round of possible storms will be on Tuesday with another system moving into the state.
