Very Active Period Ahead

A very active period is upcoming across the state. Numerous severe weather risks have been outlined by the Storm Prediction Center from today through Friday. A Slight risk for today includes the Loess Hills region of Western Iowa along the Missouri River. Thursday’s risk area includes the entire state, there is also a possiblity that this risk may be upgraded to a moderate risk early tomorrow morning. A new post at that time will denote any changes. There is a slight risk of severe weather also on Friday that includes the entire state. The main severe weather threats will be large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. The best chance for any severe weather is likely to be Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening along a cold front that is forecasted to move into the state. Temperatures on Thursday will be well up into the 80s with a few lower 90s also possible. It will also be more humid than today, with dewpoints likely approaching or exceeding 70 degrees in many locations. There will be a lot of sleepless nights upcoming!
