Today will likely be the best day of the Father’s Day weekend. Dew Points will be lower today, high temperatures will be in the 80s. There will be no severe weather today, quite a change over the last few days. However, it’s not expected to last. Already a slight risk of Severe Weather has been issued for the southeastern 2/3rds of Iowa for Father’s Day Sunday. Thunderstorms will likely develop overnight tonight and move through the state before a second batch of storms redevelops in the later part of the afternoon into the evening. The main threat will likely be strong gusty winds, similiar to the last event. Also heavy rain will be likely and Flash Flood Watches may be hoisted for parts of the state that have recieved copious amounts of rain over the last week.
The Indy Racing League is at the Iowa Speedway this weekend for the Iowa Corn Indy 250. The race will be run Sunday afternoon. There is a good liklihood the race will occur in between storms, but it’s too early to determine if that will be the case.
