Severe Weather Risks for Friday

There is a slight risk of Severe Weather for Friday and Friday night for the southeastern 2/3rds of the state mainly southeast of a line from Omaha to Lake Mills. Inside of that risk is a moderate risk of severe weather which encompasses areas southeast of a line from Mount Ayr to Marshalltown to Dubuque. The threats will be large hail, destructive winds, and isolated tornadoes. Thunderstorms will likely develop along an advancing cold front early in the afternoon and push through the state. Drier weather will return for the weekend, but temperatures will remain in the 80s, just the dewpoint will drop from the tropical 70s to near 80, to the lower 60s.
