Slight Risk Wednesday and Thursday

The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather for Today (Wednesday) and for Thursday for almost the entire state. Wednesday’s risk doesn’t include the extreme eastern parts of the state, mainly along the Mississippi River from Clinton northward. The main threats Wednesday (mainly afternoon into the evening and overnight) will be VERY large hail, damaging winds and the possiblity of tornadoes (especially early and mainly west of Interstate 35). Thursday the threats will mainly be large hail and damaging winds, but a tornado cannot be ruled out. Storms will be forming along and north of the front that has been in the midwest for over a week now, (This is the same front that moved through the state early last week in fact) Tornadoes will be possible with any early convection, then the storms will transition into a hail and wind threat. The hail could be very significant, possibly as large as Golfballs or even larger. This could be the most significant severe weather outbreak this year (given the fact there’s been a lack of severe weather across the state this year), so keep up to date with the changing weather situtation later this afternoon and into the overnight hours.
