Severe Weather Threat Today

SPC Tornado Outlook Today
SPC Tornado Outlook Today
There is a slight risk of severe weather for today (mainly Saturday afternoon and night) for most of the state, (except the areas near the Mississippi River). Large Hail, damaging winds and tornadoes will be possible with this event. The main threat area for tornadoes (above) in mainly south of Interstate 80 and west of Interstate 35 (or South and West of Des Moines). Development will likely occur over SE Nebraska in the early afternoon hours and move eastward. Supercells will be possible in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, in which a few of them may rotate. This is all dependent on what happens with the current MCS that is moving through this area early this morning. If it lingers long enough, much of the slight risk in Iowa will likely be trimmed back (we’ve seen this before!) in later outlooks today. A similiar situation is also on top for Sunday, with a slight risk covering the whole state, with similiar condtions possible (including a morning MCS and whether it will linger over the state).
