Some Light Rain

Light rain is moving through the state early this afternoon. It will mainly be confined to the southeastern half of the state today. Rainfall amounts will generally be under 1/2 inch today from the rain. Severe weather is not expected in the state today, but a thunderstorm or two may pop up in the extreme southeastern part of the state around Keokuk or Fort Madison. Temperatures today will be below average for the first part of June. Highs will be in the 60s and lower 70s, (warmer in the western part of the state where no rain is expected). Typically the average high temperature for the early part of June is in the mid 70s to around 80. The rest of the week looks to stay below average, with highs staying around 4-8 degrees below average. There will also be a few days of dry weather before another storm system moves into the state this weekend. It’s too early to determine whether there will be any severe weather with that activity at this time.
