Skies are beginning to clear as we head into the afternoon hours. The northwestern part of the state is already sunny with the rest of the state still socked in clouds. The clouds will move out this afternoon giving everyone a few hours at least of sunshine before sunset. Temperatures today will be lower where the clouds hold out the longest, generally in the upper 60s and lower 70s, while some upper 70s to around 80 will be possible in northwest Iowa where the sky has already become sunny.
The next chance of rain looks to be on Friday evening with a possible mesoscale convective system moving through. It’s too early to determine where it will develop or if it will. Chances of rain continue from Friday through the weekend into Monday. Severe weather is possible but can’t be pinpointed as yet.
