first Daffodil to bloom in my Daffodil project, April 26th

Well there you have it The first daffodil to bloom in my garden of 2009 from my Daffodil Project, and it sure picked a cool wet day to open. I will explain once again about the Daffodil Project. I am actually unable to grow daffodils in the ground over winter, They always end up mush in the spring, I have tried many times, so I came up with the idea of putting them in a fridge over winter, then plant them in the spring and it works GREAT for me. Although there is one thing I noticed. My daffodils do bloom a bit later then others around the area, there about a week or more later, but I don’t mine. We still got awhile before they will be in Full bloom, so Expect more pictures as the days go by. Lets take note of something, Last year I kept track of planting a blooming times of my daffodil project, Last year I planted them April 5, 2008 and the first bloom came in on May 1st, 2008 This year we had an earlier snow melt so I was able to plant March 21, 2009 and now there blooming on April 26, 2009 so there only about a week earlier then last year. I would also like to say I added Tulips to the project this year, So far they are turning out good, should be blooming soon. Enjoy the pictures!
