Early Spring Photos

Frogs Signing in the pond behind our house April 6th

The Early Spring season is in full swing! even though It’s been kinda cool This past week, with 2 days with 1.0 inch of snowfall! ( April 1st and again on April 5th ) I thought I would show everyone springs progression here Might even help brighten some heavy moods people have been having, I started with a video of the frogs signing, During the end of March The ice completely melted off the ponds behind our house, Area Lakes still have some ice in the center of the lake, but the shorelines are Ice free, Including Lake Carmelia in Clayton, I’m guessing they will be ice free within the week. Each day in our ice free ponds I hear more and more frogs signing, It started off as a couple, now it seems there are many signing away, I have also included some pictures of the many plants that have started to grow already, I will need to clean gardens this week, and get rid of the old dead foliage.

Tulips/Daffodils April 6th

Here is a photo of the Tulips and Daffodils in the garden from my Fridge project. They are greening up quickly with the bright sunshine! These have while to go before they will bloom. I have taken note of when I planted Daffodils in the ground from my fridge last year, and it was on April 4Th 2008, This year I planted the daffodils above on March 21st, much earlier then last year, and I planted the Tulips above on April 3rd.

Day lilies April 6th

Day lilies that have not been fazed by the cool temps! These are pretty brave, There coming up right though the dead foliage I still have to clean out, Many people have said you cannot kill these hardy plants.

Crocus April 6th

Crocus in our front yard, Some people may remember these bloomed in Mid April, It looks like there heading for the same time this year, Although these might not bloom because they have not been separated in 5 years, but I still may get surprised! I will post pictures if the bloom. Weather forecast does call for warmer temps this week, Especially into this weekend, We might even have 60 degree temps for the second time this year.

  1. D, great shots of the Spring growth! I’ve been seeing a few signs of it around here as well! It’s encouraging!

Awesome frog video!! I’ve been hearing/reading about the decline in frogs lately. I am glad they are abundant on your property! Growing up in the swamps of Suamico, WI I recall many Spring, early Summer nights of endless frog chirps!!

  2. yes, Frogs chirping alway reminds of thoughs Humid summer nights with big thunderheads in the distance with lots of flashing lightning, Normally later that night it would downpour real hard, with lots of lightning.
