5 Confirmed tornadoes occurred in Iowa on Monday. This is the results from the tornadoes in Iowa only. 1 EF2 4 EF0’s.

IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA…
A TORNADO TOUCHED ABOUT 2 MILES WEST OF MISSOURI VALLEY IOWA…WHERE
IT CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO A FARM HOUSE AND DESTROYED 7
OUTBUILDINGS AT ANOTHER FARMSTEAD 1/4 MILE TO THE WEST. ONE HALF
MILE SOUTH OF THE OUTBUILDING DAMAGE IS WHERE 54 EMPTY RAIL CARS
WERE OVERTURNED. THE TORNADO CONTINUED JUST ABOUT STRAIGHT
NORTH FOR ABOUT 9 MILES BEFORE LIFTING. THE HOUSE…FLIPPED RAIL
CARS AND DAMAGE TO TREES IN THE AREA BROUGHT A RATING OF EF2 TO THIS
TORNADO…ALTHOUGH MOST OF THE DAMAGE ALONG ITS PATH WAS EF0 OR
EF1. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED FROM THIS STORM.

IN SOUTHWEST IOWA…
TWO EF0 TORNADOES TOUCHED DOWN IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY IOWA. THE FIRST TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT 4 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF VILLISCA…WITH A PATH ABOUT THREE MILES LONG TOWARD THE NORTHEAST. ALONG ITS PATH…AN OUTBUILDING AND A BARN HAD ROOF DAMAGE…AND A GRAIN BIN WAS BLOWN ACROSS A ROAD.
THE SECOND TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF VIKING LAKE STATE PARK…OR NEAR SCIOLA…WITH A PATH LENGTH OF ABOUT ONE AND ONE QUARTER MILE. AN OUTBUILDING WITH AN OPENING FACING INTO THE WIND WAS DESTROYED…ALONG WITH SOME TREE DAMAGE.

* AVERAGE PATH WIDTH: 25 TO 50 YARDS

* PATH LENGTH: APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES FOR FIRST TORNADO…AND ABOUT 1 MILE
FOR THE SECOND.

* DISCUSSION/DAMAGE: OBSERVED NARROW TRACKS WITH MINOR ROOF…GRAIN BIN…
TREE…AND OUTBUILDING DAMAGE.
