A Band of showers and thunderstorms between 50 and 60 miles wide extended from Algona to Ames to Corydon moving northeast at 25-30mph. These thunderstorms are not expected to be severe. They will dump at least 1/2 inch of rain or more as they move through. The severe weather threat will hold off until later this afternoon into tonight. A Slight risk of Severe Weather is still in effect for the western 3/4ths of Iowa today and tonight. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds.
