Temperatures this morning bottomed out in the 20s and 30s statewide. This is average for this time of year, even after seeing highs in the 70s only a few days ago. Typically the last frost of the year isn’t until mid-April in southern Iowa and as late is mid-May in NW Iowa, so it will continue to be this cold in the morning at least for another 6-8 weeks. It will remain dry through the rest of the week before rain returns this weekend. A major storm system is forecast to move in Monday-Tuesday of next week with the possibility of severe weather occurring. It’s too early to determine the risks as yet.
