Winter Storm Watch Expanded

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Storm Watch which will go into effect at Noon on Friday and expire at Midnight Saturday morning. Counties included in this watch are, Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Crawford, Dallas, Davis, Decatur, Greene, Guthrie, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Wapello, Warren and Wayne. Additonal counties to the east may get added in this morning.
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATE FRIDAY MORNING…AND CONTINUE THROUGH
FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING…BEFORE DIMINISHING OR ENDING
ALTOGETHER EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. ONCE THE SNOW BEGINS IT COULD
BE QUITE HEAVY WITH ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR
POSSIBLE AT TIMES. MINOR TO MODERATE BLOWING SNOW MAY FURTHER REDUCE
VISIBILITIES…DOWN TO A HALF MILE OR LESS…ESPECIALLY OVER
SOUTHERN IOWA. STORM TOTAL SNOWFALLS IN THE WATCH AREA MAY VARY
FROM SIX TO TEN INCHES. THUNDER COULD ALSO OCCUR WITH THE SNOW
WHICH COULD LOCALLY PRODUCE EVEN HIGHER AMOUNTS.
