The next storm moving in late Sunday night through Monday could bring an interesting set of circumstances to the state. Monday will bring quite a bit of rain to the state which could lead to run-off and some urban flooding, especially in the snowpack areas. The most interesting thing is the slight chance of severe weather that could move in. SPC doesn’t have a risk for the state for Monday, but some notes on their Day 3 Outlook indicate that the possibility is there if certain conditions are met. If they are, then a few low top supercells may form and given the turning of winds with the system, a few tornadoes may be possible in western and central Iowa. As stated, the chances are very remote, however the chances are there. In any case there will be thunderstorms across the state on Monday whether they are severe or not.
