Snowfall So Far

snowfall0809 This year a numer of places, especially in the NE half of the state have recieved more snowfall than last winter, whereas the SW half of the state has seen the same amount or less than last winter. Waterloo, Sioux City, Dubuque, Mason City and Moline IL have all seen over a foot more snow up to this point then they did last winter at this point. There is a bright side to this, if anyone is thinking what happened last winter led to what happened in Iowa this past summer, most of the snow that has fallen has been the dry fluffy kind, with little moisture content at all. Thus when it begins to melt, it will quite quickly and won’t lead to any serious flooding if we don’t get anymore snow, but it is Mid-January and we still have 2 more months before Spring begins.
