The Expansion of Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will begin at 10am this morning and last until Midnight for the following counties, Black Hawk, Clarke, Decatur, Grundy, Hardin, Jasper, Lucas, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Story, Tama, Warren and Wayne and from 3pm this afternoon until 3am Sunday morning for the following counties, Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Franklin and Worth. Rain and a few thunderstorms will quickly switch over to sleet and snow this morning in the advisory area. Some freezing rain may also be possible. Amounts of snow generally will be between a dusting in southern Iowa to as much as 3 inches near Waterloo. This will likely be expanded eastward as the day goes on.

UPDATE 4:25am The following counties have been added, Benton, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Jones and Linn. They will be under a Winter Weather Advisory from 3pm this afternoon until 6am Sunday morning.
