All of Iowa, Flooding, Winter Weather

Some Evening Notes

Some river flood warnings have been issued for numerous area rivers due to the snowmelt that has occurred over the last few days. This is also due to some ice jams as well. The Raccoon River near Des Moines is expected to crest soon due to an ice jam that is occurring there. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect in SW Polk County for that reason. The Chariton River at Chariton, the Iowa River at Marengo, the English River at Kalona, Cedar Creek near Bussey, the Skunk River near Sigourney and the Wapsipinicon River near DeWitt are all under River Flood Warnings through at least Tuesday.

In addition to that, some light snow with some sleet mixed in is currently falling in the eastern half of the state. Road conditions are still very poor there as well, with travel not being advised on numerous roads due to a combination of ice and snow. An inch or two may fall before it ends later tonight as the storm system moves off to the east.
