Freezing rain has been reported in most of southern Iowa at this time. Amounts have been generally light so far, but the freezing rain intensity is increasing with a quarter inch per hour possible in southern Iowa, northern Missouri and central Illinois. The Storm Prediction Center has a Mesoscale disscusion suggesting that some thunder is possible given the instability and the lift in the atmosphere. Some small hail may also occur.
