A Winter Storm Watch has been issued now for the entire state of Iowa for Thursday. It looks to be a very complex system coming in, with some freezing rain and sleet to begin with in the southern half of the state and snow to the north. It will evidentually switch to all snow before ending on Friday. This could be a significant ice event in the south with up to 1/2 inch of ice possible. This could lead to some scattered power outages across the area. To the north where it will remain snow longer, total amounts of up to 6 inches plus will be possible, with the higher amounts closer to the Iowa Minnesota border. Some warnings and advisories will likely be issued for the area later this afternoon and tonight.
