A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Tuesday for the following counties in Iowa, Audubon, Boone, Cass, Greene, Guthrie, Adair, Adams, Clarke, Dallas, Decatur, Jasper, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Poweshiek, Ringgold, Story, Tama, Taylor, Union, Warren, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Benton, Linn, Jones, Jackson, Iowa, Keokuk, Cedar, Clinton, Jefferson, Johnson, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington.
Snow will overspread the watch area later tonight and continue through Tuesday. Amounts of 3-6 inches will be possible in the watch area with some isolated heavier totals in a narrow swath. Coupled with the much colder weather currently, coupled with strong winds, wind chills will be dangerously low throughout this storm event. If you don’t have to travel on Tuesday, it would be best to put it off until later in the week. But saying that, another storm on Thursday could bring another round of winter weather to the state. Stay tuned.
