Winter Weather on its way!

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which goes into effect at Midnight tonight and will be in effect until Noon on Tuesday for the following counties in Iowa, Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Sioux, O’Brien and Clay. A Winter Weather advisory has also been issued starting at 9pm tonight and will be in effect until 9am tomorrow morning for the following counties in Iowa, Plymouth, Cherokee and Buena Vista.
These are being issued due to the possibility of Freezing Rain and/or snow later this evening and overnight acros the northwestern parts of the state. One to two tenths of an inch of freezing rain is possible in these areas by tomorrow morning. The precipitation will move in from the south later this evening and begin around mid evening across the NW part of Iowa. Further north (in the advisory area in effect until Noon) the precip may begin as snow before switching to freezing rain and then may switch back to snow later with accumulations of 2 inches of snow and up to two tenths of an inch of ice possible.

More Advisories may be issued by other NWS offices later this afternoon as this storm draws closer to the state.
