A closed upper level low will move just to the south of the state Wednesday through Friday morning. This will lead to heavy rainfall amounts across the state with totals exceeding 3 inches mainly in the western part of the state, with at least 1-2 inches elsewhere. There is a wintery side to this storm as well with Winter Storm Watches already posted in Central Nebraska with this storm. Over a foot of snow is possible for places like North Platte, Ainsworth, Broken Bow and Lexington NE. The rain snow line should not move into Iowa with this storm, getting as close as Norfolk in Nebraska but a cold rain will fall that perhaps could be mixed with some sleet in the far west. Highs will only be in the 40s to low 50s during this event with nighttime lows generally in the 30s to low 40s.
