Afternoon Extremes

45 and 79! That’s the temperature extremes at 2pm in Iowa today. It’s 45 in Denison and Estherville while it 79 at Muscatine and Oskaloosa. You can tell there’s a front in the state. Right now it’s located from between Mason City and Charles City through Des Moines to west of Lamoni. West of the front temperatures are crashing into the 40s and 50s with scattered rain, east of the front it’s a whole different season. Temperatures well into the 70s with some peaks of sun from time to time, otherwise generally cloudy with a few sprinkles here and there. The rain currently is falling along and behind the front, west of a Northwood to Mount Ayr line. The rain continues moving Northeastward and should dump at most 1/2 inch of rain through tonight.
