Temperatures dipped close to freezing this morning throughout most of the northern part of the state. The temperature fell to 32 at Spencer, 33 at Dubuque, 34 at LeMars, Monticello, Charles City, Oelwein, Sheldon, Clarion and Estherville. Des Moines only dropped to 41 (due to urban heat island). Temperatures tomorrow morning will be a few degrees warmer so no widespread frost is expected Friday morning.
