A decaying complex of rain and storms was moving slowly eastward from Oxford Junction in Jones County to just north of Wellman. This is what led the weather service in the Quad Cities to issue a Special Weather statement (see post below). A larger complex of showers and isolated thunderstorms was moving into central Iowa from the SW. The heaviest rain with that complex is located from near Guthrie Center to Atlantic. Rainfall could be locally heavy given what has taken place in eastern Iowa this evening from this complex in the central and western part of the state.
