There is no risk for severe weather for today in Iowa, however there could be isolated thunderstorms that develop that may approach severe weather limits. At 1pm, there was a line of showers from Algona to Omaha. These showers are moving to the east. They should produce rainfall amounts of up to 3-4 tenths of an inch of precipitation as they move through. Ahead of this line of showers, the humidity will continue with dewpoints nearing 70 and temperatures in the mid 80s. There is uncertainity whether Gustav will make an appearance in Iowa. The center of what was once Hurricane Gustav will be well south of the state but the moisture could move into the state later this week. Temperatures behind this front will be much cooler. With readings in the 70s and lows in the 50s. After today the next “best” chance of rain will be on Saturday, I denote “best” due to Gustav.
