The complex of thunderstorms this morning brought beneficial rain to the state. Many areas recieved at least 1/2 inch of rain. Some places recieved much more while other areas didn’t recieve as much. Washington tallied over 3 inches from the storm. Iowa City and Cedar Rapids were around 2 inches. At my location I recieved .84in. The heaviest rainfall totals were mainly south of US Hwy 30 and east of US Hwy 63 (or SE of Tama-Toledo). There is still a slight risk of severe weather for areas SE of a line from Dubuque to Lamoni. The main threats will be large hail and damaging winds. However the greatest threat will likely be in Missouri and in Illinois. Later outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center will specify whether the storm threat will increase or decrease here. These storms (if they develop) will be out of the state by 6-9pm. For the Iowa State Football game tonight in Ames the sky should be partly cloudy with temperatures at kickoff in the low 70s.
